Remastered reissue of The Somberlain, the all-time classic debut album from the Swedish melodic black/death metal band Dissection, originally recorded at Unisound Studios and released in 1993. With this remastered edition, the release goes full circle as Dan Swanö himself, the original recording engineer, lies behind the big effort of making this milestone sound better than ever.

Boasting stellar musicianship, most obviously from guitarists Jon Nödtveidt and John Zwetsloot, Dissection's classic debut blends cold aggression, an archaic and complex atmosphere – thanks to the three classical guitar pieces by Zwetsloot as well as busy song structures overall – and all the accessibility, riffs, harmonies and drive of classic heavy metal. The result is a melodic death metal foundation with an aesthetic and vocal approach more in line with black metal, an epic and melancholy combination.
